seven days of spring.

It's the end of February and spring allowed us to escape from our daily stress and leave the long, dark, and sweaty hours on the turbo behind us. At least for seven days.

Seven days of spring is a solitary adventure taking place in the hinterlands of western Germany. Focusing on getting lost on purpose to discover some new unridden gems of roads in an environment that seemed to be more familiar than it is.

Seems like summer is officially over. For a couple of days, it looked like the heavy rain would never stop. We accepted this fact and met for a short ride to the Dutch border and back. The first of three alpine passes of the Oetztal cycling Marathon. Starting at 785 m above sea level and leading up to 2017 m with an average gradient of 7% and a max. gradient of 17%. Its torture starts right after entering Muehlau.

Was supposed to be an epic day but had to go back down 3 km before reaching the summit due to a thunderstorm.

Passo del Rombo.

Passo del Rombo - The highest alpine road in the eastern Alps. After Kuehtai and Passo di Monte Giovo, it's the third final challenge of the Oetztaler cycling marathon. Starting in Soelden its 22 km ascend leads up to 2509 m above sea level. Due to its average gradient of only 5%, it was the perfect alpine pass for the first day of our alpine adventure.

The plan was to ride Passo del Rombo from both sides. So we got up before sunset, packed our stuff, and went off.
